Frequently Asked Questions

Assembly is an invitation-only event, open to 2020–2026 USA Fellows and Artadia Awardees, as well as a select cohort of recipients of USA Initiatives partnership awards.

At each Assembly convening, attendees can expect equivalent offerings for learning, collaboration, and connection.

Choose from curated presentations covering money matters for artists at various stages, protection of artistic work and legacies, as well as education on field-wide efforts to enshrine the economic rights of creative workers, and the state of the media.

Additional drop-in activities include collaborative jam sessions for sharing work, somatic exploration to reconnect with the body, and rest and reflection in a quiet writer’s lounge.

Finally, we’ll offer morning and evening keynotes with distinguished guests, and plenty of time and space to enjoy meals together.

The 2026 Assembly takes place October 12–14, 2026. Arrivals will be on October 12. Main programming will be on October 13 and the morning of October 14. Departures will be after the morning on October 14.

USA

United States Artists plays a pivotal role in America’s cultural ecosystem, advancing the well-being of artists through unrestricted funding and tailored professional services, amplifying artists’ work, and improving conditions that support their essential roles in society. Founded in 2005 and based in Chicago, IL, United States Artists has awarded over 1,000 individuals with over $50 million of direct support across its flagship Fellowship program and its special Initiatives.

Artadia

Artadia is a nonprofit grantmaker and nationwide community of visual artists, curators, and patrons. We elevate the careers of artists at pivotal moments in their practice and help strengthen their communities through a proven combination of recognition, grantmaking, community support, and advocacy. Since its founding in 1999, Artadia has awarded artists in seven program cities — Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

USA × Artadia

For over twenty years, both USA and Artadia have supported artists in the United States, as a counter to the challenges borne of our economic systems, and grounded in the view of cultural labor as integral to the national fabric and health of our communities. It is this shared vision that inspired our first collaboration in 2020 as part of a coalition of grantmakers during the COVID-19 pandemic. That initiative — Artist Relief — provided $25 million in grants to nearly 5,000 artists facing financial hardship due to the pandemic from April 2020 to June 2021. Our current collaboration is a natural extension of this relationship, coming together to provide essential support, capacity, and resources in a precarious time.
